‘He lacks a bit of spirit’ – Fabio Capello makes Harry Kane claim for AC Milan

Fabio Capello has suggested ahead of Tottenham’s second leg against AC Milan that Harry Kane is not the best version of himself at the moment.

Back-to-back losses against Sheffield United and Wolves have put a major dent in Spurs’ hopes of winning a trophy and finishing in the top four this season.

Kane’s future has come under even more scrutiny since the defeat at Molineux Stadium, with some pundits like Tony Cascarino suggesting that the 29-year-old’s body language looked like someone who knows he is on his way out in the summer (talkSPORT).

The Sun even reported on Monday that Manchester United now believe they will be able to sign the England captain if Spurs fail to finish in the top four after the Red Devils had positive contacts with the striker’s representatives through intermediaries.

Previewing the second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Capello opined that Kane is now short of his best but warned the Rossoneri that they cannot afford to take Antonio Conte’s side lightly.

The England boss told Sky Sport Italia (as relayed by Milan News): “It won’t be easy for Milan, but Tottenham still don’t have the best Kane.

“Up until a few games ago he was alive, while in the last few games I felt seemed a bit out of the game.

“Maybe he lacks a bit of spirit, even Antonio Conte has always defended him.

“But Tottenham are a strong team despite Dier’s absence. They didn’t deserve to lose against Wolverhampton.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Our performances and results at home over the last month have been excellent.

In fact, we have not conceded a single goal in our last three home matches against Manchester City, West Ham and Chelsea. That gives me some hope that we will turn up against Milan on Wednesday.
