‘He looked sad’ – Son explains why he felt sorry for Kane after West Ham win

Heung-min Son admitted that he felt sorry for Harry Kane after he could not manage to get on the scoresheet during Tottenham’s win over West Ham United.

Spurs secured a 3-1 victory against the Hammers earlier today which kept them firmly in the hunt for a top four finish at the end of the season.

The hosts took an early lead when Kurt Zouma turned Kane’s low cross into his own net, before Spurs’ lead was doubled by Son on 24 minutes.

West Ham halved the deficit after the half-hour mark through Said Benrahma to set up a poised second period, though it was put to bed before stoppage time after Son was sent clean through on goal.

While the Korean was happy with his double which was set up by Kane, he couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for strike partner who never managed to net in the encounter.

He told Sky Sports: “The relationship with Harry, I’ve spoken about it maybe more than 100 times now! It’s incredible having this striker next to me.

“I feel bad and sorry for him [that] he didn’t score. He had a couple of chances.

“He looked sad! I feel sad for him as well. He scores so many goals, he wants everything as a teammate and as a friend.”

Son looked very bright against West Ham and his efforts were duly rewarded with two goals to help push the side to three important points.

Kane will likely be a little disheartened to not have scored – as all strikers would be – but his display was immense without the goals, so he should definitely take that going forward.
