‘He makes football a better place’ – Pep Guardiola is a huge Postecoglou fan

Speaking to the press ahead of the big game between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, City boss Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Ange Postecoglou for the way his Spurs side are playing.

The appointment of Ange Postecoglou raised a few eyebrows in the summer, given the fact this was the Australian’s first role in one of Europe’s so-called big leagues. However, any fears that he would not be up to the task have been quickly put to bed.

Spurs started the season in incredible form, remaining unbeaten for the first ten games and topping the Premier League table. Sadly, a number of injuries and suspensions to key players has left the Lilywhites with three straight defeats now, and a drop to fifth in the table.

What better way to bounce back, then, than a visit to the home of the Premier League champions, who have won their last four games?

Postecoglou makes football a better place

Well, Pep Guardiola is clearly taking nothing for granted, and suggests Tottenham are making great strides under their new manager.

He told the press (via City Xtra): “He’s already there, in a short time, even the games they didn’t win lately, I’m impressed with how good the things are that they do and the chances they create. Aggressive in all departments. He came here and you recognise perfectly his team.

“Every team plays for the desire of the manager. What he’s done in Japan and Glasgow with Celtic and now. He makes football a better place, people like Ange. I enjoy a lot their approach, all the Spurs fans can admit the impact has been quick.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am amazed, truth be told, at how quickly the players have adapted to the ways of Ange Postecoglou. I am not concerned at all by the recent defeats, either. If we had a full strength squad we would be in a much better position, I’m sure.
