‘He needs to change’ – Teddy Sheringham claims Spurs star ‘has the hump’

Teddy Sheringham has claimed there is no doubt that Harry Kane is still reeling from the fact that Daniel Levy denied him a move to Manchester City during the summer transfer window.

City fell short in their attempt to reach an agreement with Spurs for Kane over the summer, despite the striker allegedly pushing hard for the transfer.

The England captain has looked a shadow of his former self so far this season, having found the back of the net just once in the Premier League so far.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola’s men are unlikely to reignite their interest in Kane in the future after failing to get a deal over the line during the summer.

Some pundits have put the striker’s sub-par performances down to him being mentally affected by the failed transfer to the Etihad.

Sheringham has now asserted there is no doubt that Kane has been affected by the failed move but insisted the striker needs to put that behind him and focus on performing for the North Londoners.

Speaking on behalf of 888sport, the former Spur striker said: “It’s definitely the case that something has happened in the summer and he was probably given assurances that he could leave.

“Those assurances haven’t been stuck to and it looks like Kane has the hump.

“He needs to change that around and realise he is still the Tottenham captain and still a Tottenham player and do better.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do believe that Kane is desperate to do well for Spurs and that he is giving his all. His loss of form is due to a combination of disappointment at the failed move and a lack of confidence. Although, Kane is not the Tottenham captain, Hugo Lloris is.
