Fabrizio Romano has revealed that reported Tottenham target, Miralem Pjanic, has refused to leave Barcelona by mutual consent this summer.
Although the deep-lying playmaker only recently joined the Spanish side, it is said that they are open to losing him on a free in order to remove his wages from their books (Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness).
AS reported last week that Spurs had already reached out and made contact over a potential signing, with Fabio Paratici having worked at Juventus with Pjanic. However, this report indicated that the player would prefer a return to Italy (via Sport Witness).
Most recently, TuttoMercatoWeb reported that Spurs may have a financial advantage over other suitors as they would be able to sign Pjanic without asking him to drop his current €7.5m net per year wages.
However, Romano now claims that Juventus have not opened talks over re-signing Pjanic and the player rejected Barcelona’s proposal to leave my mutual consent this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:
I would not be that excited by Pjanic, even on a free. He was a class player at his peak but asking a 31-year-old who hasn’t played great football for over a year to come into a struggling Premier League side and hit the ground running is a bit much for me.
