‘He thinks I will’ – Tottenham star reveals what Wayne Rooney has told him

Harry Kane has revealed that Wayne Rooney expects him to break his record and become England’s all-time leading scorer.

Since his failed move to Manchester City in the summer, Kane has not found his goalscoring boosts for Spurs, with the striker having only found the back of the net just once in the Premier League this season.

However, it has been a different story for the 28-year-old in the international scene as he has continued banging in the goals for England.

The striker netted seven goals in two games in England’s World Cup qualification wins over Albania and San Marino last month.

That took his tally to 48 goals for the Three Lions, just one behind Bobby Charlton in second place and five behind Rooney’s all-time record tally of 53.

Kane admitted he did not dream of becoming the nation’s leading scorer as a youngster but revealed that even Rooney now thinks it is just a matter of time before he overtakes his tally.

The Tottenham striker told Footy with Uti: “It’s a hard one. I feel like that I always dreamt of playing for England as a kid. I dreamed of maybe captaining England as a kid.

“But the goalscoring record wasn’t probably something I thought of when I was younger. It wasn’t until I was in the England team and I was fortunate enough to be playing when he broke the record.

“That was the moment when I thought ‘Oh, I would love to achieve that one day’. Even Wayne has said himself that he thinks I will take it off him one day and he’ll be proud to hand over the boot, or whatever they do.”

Kane is now nailed on the pass Rooney’s tally and there is a good chance that he will do it in the World Cup in Qatar.

Despite his struggles in front of goal this season, I also expect the Tottenham man to beat Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record as I do not see him hanging up his boots for at least another 6 years.
