‘He told me in February’ – Journalist confirms Arne Slot’s PL desire amid Spurs links

Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan has revealed that Arne Slot is extremely keen to manage in the Premier League and was even ready to take the Leeds United job when they came calling for him in February.

It emerged earlier this week that Tottenham were ready to step up their interest in Arne Slot and were keen to hold talks with the Dutchman regarding their managerial vacancy (The Telegraph).

If reports over the last 24 hours are to be believed, those talks have gone very well.

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the discussions between the parties were positive and that the North London club are now advancing on a deal for the 44-year-old

Football Insider insiders have also reported something quite similar, revealing that the Tottenham hierarchy are convinced that the Feyenoord man is the right man for the job.

The publication even asserted that the Lilywhites could appoint the Dutch coach as early as next week.

When asked about the speculation linking Slot with a move to Spurs, Van der Kraan has now told talkSPORT: “For Arne, the Premier League has always been a major attraction.

“He told me in February when Leeds United came for him, ‘look, I can do something there. I think I can keep them up. I think I can get them a different playing style’, and he wanted to go but Feyenoord refused to let him go.”

Slot certainly appears to have confidence that his style of play can work in the Premier League but the 44-year-old will likely have to adapt his tactics a bit if he gets the job, given the calibre of teams and managers he would be coming up against in England.
