‘He trains the house down’ – Postecogou wants more players like 30-year-old in his Spurs squad

Ange Postecoglou has paid testament to Ben Davies and the Welshman’s character around the Tottenham dressing room, stating that any successful squad needs players like him.

Although Davies has often played second fiddle to Destiny Udogie this season, he has always stepped up when called upon, whether that be at left-back or centre-back.

And it appears the long-serving Spurs star has been impressing Postecoglou in training too, with the Tottenham boss commending Davies for his commitment to the cause.

He said (Football London): “Ben’s an outstanding character. I sensed that straight away in the way he carries himself, the way he thinks about the game, the way he thinks about his position in the game, the influence he can have.

“From my perspective, the more of those kinds of guys you can have in a dressing room, it helps you make sure the standards and environment you want to create is going to be one to take us to another level. Ben’s certainly one of those.

“He’s been great whenever he’s played for us this year, obviously probably wanted to play a bit more but at the same time it’s testament to his character that when he has played he’s been ready to play. He trains the house down every day.”

Postecoglou and Ben Davies prepare for Spurs vs Luton

Tottenham are looking to bounce back from arguably their worst performance of the Postecoglou era last time out which saw them suffer a 3-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The defeat cost the North Londoners the opportunity to move ahead of fourth-placed Aston Villa in the Premier League table and find themselves three points behind their Champions League rivals with a game in hand.

Villa are in action later on Saturday evening when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park; a fixture which Tottenham will certainly have an eye on.

Luton are fighting for their top-flight status and have put in some spirited performances in recent weeks and find themselves just a point above the relegation zone following Nottingham Forest’s four-point deduction for breaking financial rules in the 2022-23 season

Luton boss Rob Edwards has already confirmed that Chieo Ogbene, Sambi Lokonga, Elijah Adebayo and Mads Andersen are among those who will miss the fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium however, Alfie Doughty, Teden Mengi and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu could return.
