‘He wants to play for a better club’- Some Spurs fans rubbish rumours linking star with Man Utd

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen’s future has been subject to speculation after the Dane came out recently and admitted his desire to seek a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

According to reports, Real Madrid could make a move for the Dane this summer with Zinedine Zidane looks to rebuild his squad following a disappointing campaign (The Independent).

The 27-year-old has one of Tottenham’s most important players in the past six years and played a crucial role in the club’s progression in recent years under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino. However, it now looks like Eriksen’s time at the club is up with his contract down to its final year and looks no closer to signing a new deal.

Another player that Real Madrid are reportedly interested in is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, with Zidane said to be a fan of the French international (The Sun).

The Evening Standard reported yesterday that Man Utd could make a move for Eriksen this summer should Pogba swap Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, some Spurs fans rubbished the report sighting the fact that Eriksen said he wanted a step up, and a move to Man Utd who will play Europa League football next season certainly can’t be classified as that.

Here’s how some fans reacted to the news on social media:

Spurs Web Opinion

While we would prefer if the club kept hold of Eriksen, Daniel Levy’s hand are tied as the midfielder could walk away for free next summer. If Madrid or Barcelona do not come in for Eriksen, we at Spurs Web believe that he will sign an extension with Spurs instead of moving to a Premier League rival.
