‘He wants to win at Tottenham’ – Romano provides update on Kane’s future

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Harry Kane is determined to win trophies at Tottenham Hotspur and that the North London club are expected to begin talks over a new deal with the striker’s entourage over the coming weeks.

With Kane into the final 18 months of his contract at Tottenham, there continues to be speculation over his future, with Manchester United recently emerging as a contender to snap him up in the summer (Sky Sports).

The Telegraph revealed this week that Daniel Levy will not make it easy for United to sign the 29-year-old, with the Spurs chairman expected to demand £100m for the striker if he does not sign a new contract.

The report stated that Spurs still hope to persuade Kane to commit his future to the club and suggested that the Lilywhites’ chances of doing so could depend on whether they win a trophy this season or finish in the top four.

Romano believes that the Tottenham hierarchy will soon begin negotiations over a contract as the England captain remains determined to win silverware with his boyhood club.

When asked about Kane’s future at Spurs, the journalist said on the House of Champions YouTube channel: “I’m told that he still wants to win Tottenham. He’s still fighting for Tottenham and there will be conversations in the next weeks between his brother the agent of Harry Kane, Charlie, and Tottenham to discuss about the new contract.”

Even if Kane’s preference is to remain at Tottenham, I do not think he will be in a hurry to commit to his future. The striker will probably wait for a couple of months to see the direction the team is heading in under Conte before signing what will likely be the last big contract of his career.
