‘He was everywhere’ – Ginola heaps praise on Spurs star after Newcastle display

David Ginola reserved special praise for Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder put in a masterclass at St James’ Park yesterday to help Tottenham emerge 3-2 winners.

Ndombele once again started in a number ten role with a double-pivot insurance of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp behind him.

That gave him the license to roam and get on the ball in different areas of the pitch, with the 24-year-old being involved in most of the good moves that Tottenham put together.

The former Lyon man ended up grabbing the away side’s equaliser with a beautifully curled finish into the top corner.

The midfielder also lasted the full game, completed 99 total touches, had a pass accuracy of 92 per cent pass accuracy while completing 4 successful dribbles and winning 4 tackles (Statman Dave).

Some Spurs fans on social media were blown away by the 24-year-old’s display and hoped that it was a sign of things to come.

Ginola revealed after the game that he was impressed by how the Tottenham man showed for the ball in different areas and held on to possession.

He said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:16 pm, October 17, 2021): “We didn’t even mention Ndombele in the middle of the park.

“He was, of course, the Man of the Match. He was everywhere, he was holding the ball.”

The most encouraging thing about the Ndombele performance was the fact that he did not look to be tiring in the final 20 minutes of the game. That suggests that his fitness is improving, which is great news for Tottenham going forward.
