‘He was so disappointed’ – Pundit reports Tottenham snub for manager

Alan Brazil has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino was left bitterly disappointed that Tottenham Hotspur did not reach out to him regarding their managerial vacancy.

As things stand, it remains unclear who is going to replace Antonio Conte at the helm at Spurs.

The North London club are reportedly in talks with Julian Nagelsmann while the likes of Luis Enrique, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany are also in the running (Fabrizio Romano – Here We Go Podcast).

One thing that seems fairly clear is that Pochettino is not set to return to Tottenham, with the Argentine now on the verge of taking over at Chelsea (Sky Sports).

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, David Ornstein explained a couple of days ago that the decision not to bring the 51-year-old back to North London was a unanimous decision by the Spurs board.

The journalist pointed out that the atmosphere in the training ground was not good during Pochettino’s final few months at Hotspur Way back in 2019, which might have been why the club decided not to pursue him.

Speaking about the former Tottenham manager, Brazil has now told talkSPORT: “I really like the guy, [Pochettino].

“I think he’s a top, top bloke but one thing I do know he was so disappointed that Spurs didn’t contact him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The club have taken a big risk by not contacting Pochettino, who would have likely to jump at the chance to come back.

If the Spurs hierarchy are unable to convince Nagelsmann to accept the job, the fan base would quite rightly be fuming at the fact that the club let the Argentine go to Chelsea.
