‘He was super happy’ – Del Piero reveals what Conte told him about Spurs last month

Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that Antonio Conte was ‘super happy’ with the Tottenham board and the facilities at the club last month, but added that the former Inter boss is not satisfied with the quality of players at his disposal.

Conte certainly did not hold back after Tottenham fell to their fourth Premier League defeat in five matches at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

The Spurs boss admitted that the current run of results was unacceptable and hinted that he would hold talks with the hierarchy in light of the team’s struggles (ESPN).

According to The Sun, Daniel Levy still believes that Conte is the man to bring silverware to Tottenham and will look to reassure the 52-year-old following his outburst.

Meanwhile Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Conte’s post-match comments were aimed at the Spurs squad, with the Italian wanting to put pressure on some players to perform.

Del Piero believes it is the playing squad that his compatriot is unhappy with in North London.

The former Juventus striker told Sky Sport Italia (as relayed by Fabrizio Romano): “I was in London to meet with Antonio Conte few weeks ago – he was super happy about Tottenham, board, facilities, stadium.

“I feel the problem is about players he needs to win titles. They sold four players in Jan and only signed two”.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite concerning if Conte feels he has to threaten to walk away to spark a reaction from the players. That certainly does not jive with the Italian’s admission last week (Evening Standard) that the current Spurs squad is the best group of players he has worked with in terms of their attitude.
