‘He was superb’ – Alan Shearer praises efforts of one Spurs player against Fulham

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer praised the performance of Richarlison following Tottenham Hotspur’s win against Fulham yesterday.

The 2-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw Antonio Conte’s side maintain their unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign having registered four wins and two draws from their opening six matches.

Conte handed the Brazilian a first competitive start since joining from Everton in the summer with the forward taking his place alongside Heung-min Son and Harry Kane.

Shearer was impressed by the 25-year-old’s efforts against the Cottagers, believing that he made all of the right decisions during the match which saw him come close to finding the back of the net on either side of half time.

Richarlison thought he had grabbed a late first goal for his new club when he finished from close range, only for VAR to rule against him.

Shearer told the BBC’s Match of the Day (03/09/22): “He did everything else. He was superb. Everything he did was spot-on. He ran in behind, made it difficult for the defenders.”

Richarlison has proven against Chelsea, West Ham and now Fulham that he adds a different dynamic to our attack and will be a shrewd signing by Fabio Paratici, especially with games now coming thick and fast.

Antonio Conte now has the opportunity to shuffle his attacking trio and hand one a rest when needed, as he did with Kulusevski yesterday.
