‘He will turn into a top, top player’ – Paul Robinson raves about 22-year-old Spurs star

Former Tottenham number one Paul Robinson has praised summer signing Tanguy Ndombele and is confident that Mauricio Pochettino will turn him into a top player.

Spurs shattered their transfer record to land Ndombele from Lyon in the summer after the midfielder put in impressive performances for the French club in Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season.

The Frenchman seems to have now settled into the club and is starting to show his quality. He started on the bench against Liverpool on Sunday but produced a fine cameo off the bench in the latter stages of the game.

Robinson claimed that the 22-year-old will prove to be an astute signing for Spurs and said that he was impressed with his versatility.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Spurs stopper said, “It was a big move for him. I think he’s fitted in well, his ability to play anywhere across the middle is a huge asset, I like him as a player.

“He’s a youngster still and I think he will develop quickly, he will turn into a top, top player under Pochettino and I think it was an astute signing.”

Ndombele has already shown glimpses of his quality not just defensively but also going forward as he already bagged two goals and three assists so far this season (transfermarkt.com).

Spurs Web Opinion

While Ndombele has had a decent start to his Spurs career, one thing that hasn’t helped him is the fact that Pochettino has chopped and changed both the system and personal from one match to another. However, there is no doubt that he has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
