‘Heartbreaking news’ – Spurs suffer another injury after player was forced off the pitch early this weekend

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered yet another injury in the full-back position after Ryan Sessegnon picked up a knock in an U21 match against West Ham United.

Sessegnon’s Tottenham career has been littered with injury after injury, with the young Englishman never afforded the chance to build up any momentum before facing another spell on the sidelines.

The former Fulham defender has still barely kicked a ball under Ange Postecoglou, despite Spurs being almost 30 games into the 2023/24 season.

Recently recovering from his latest problem, Sessegnon was named in Tottenham’s U21 starting XI for the match against West Ham on Saturday, alongside the likes of Jamie Donley and Dane Scarlett.

Ryan Sessegnon picks up another injury for Tottenham

However, he only lasted 35 minutes before coming off injured. Sessegnon picked the ball up out wide on the left and beat his man before playing the ball into the penalty area, at which point he looked to pull up sharply (SpursPLAY – 35 mins).

Sessegnon stayed down after the incident and received medical attention before eventually getting to his feet and making his way off the pitch to be replaced by Jahziah Linton. The commentator described it as ‘heartbreaking news’.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I could not feel more sorry for Ryan Sessegnon. Football is his life and career but he gets no luck in terms of injuries. I don’t see how he is ever going to get the chance to break into the Spurs XI. Perhaps a move abroad to a less intense league could rekindle his career.
