Heavily linked summer Spurs target could leave club admits chairman

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has opened the door for a future exit from the Premier League strugglers.

The Ivory Coast international was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for a fee of around £45million in the summer, but a move failed to materialise (The Sun).

Zaha has since gone on to sign a new contract at Palace until the end of the 2022-23 campaign and is understood to be earning around £130,000 a week, with no release clause (Guardian).

Such a wage would make him one of Tottenham’s highest earners, above the likes of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld.

While Parrish admitted that Zaha will not be leaving the club in January, following speculation regarding a potential big-money move to China where it was rumoured he would earn a massive £390,000 a week if he were to join Dalian Yifang (The Sun).

Parrish instead claimed that he would review every enquiry on its merits and it would be in the best interest of the player.

He told The Mirror: “We have got a long history with Wilf. He loves the club and we love him. But of course people want to do well in their career over time.

“We have to look at it. We have to look at the right circumstances for Wilf, the right circumstances for the club.

“Right now, I know he is 1,000% committed to Crystal Palace Football Club. He doesn’t think about anything else. He is not interested in going to China. He wants to help us get up the table. That is all he is focused on right now.”
