Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to social media to wish Kyle Walker-Peters all the best as the club announced his summer sale to Southampton today.
Walker-Peters spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan at St Mary’s and made a considerable impact in his 10 appearances for the Saints (Wikipedia).
While the Spurs academy man looked to be the new first-choice right-back at the start of the season under Mauricio Pochettino, starting the first three Premier League games, an injury immediately stunted that progress.
With Serge Aurier eventually returning to the starting XI, Walker-Peters found it difficult to earn minutes later in the season, especially after the signing of Jose Mourinho.
Walker-Peters now leaves Tottenham having represented them 24 times and scoring one goal against Rochdale in the FA Cup (Wikipedia).
Of course, despite the fact that he was not one of the stars of the team, Spurs fans have had plenty of kind words to say about a player who is ‘one of their own’.

Good luck @KWPeters at Southampton. Shame it didn’t work out at Spurs for you, but I’m sure you’ll have a good career there.

Really wondered what could have been for kyle if the loan system worked out for him. I’ll miss him, but he looked happy at Southampton so he deserves it!
