England manager Gareth Southgate has backed Antonio Conte to help Harry Kane get back to goalscoring form quickly at Tottenham.
Kane has struggled to muster up meaningful form for Tottenham this season and has looked a shadow of the player that scooped up the Premier League’s top scorer and assist awards last season.
The 28-year-old was the subject of a summer-long transfer saga linking him with a move to Manchester City after he allegedly told Spurs chiefs of his desire to seek pastures new.
However, a move never materialised and he remained in North London, but has not managed to get firing in the opening months of the campaign.
Three Lions manager, Southgate believes new Spurs boss Conte, who took charge of the club earlier this week, can be just the man to help Kane rediscover his best form at the club.
He said (via Evening Standard): “Now there’s a change of manager, I think there’s a fresh start for him. I think that will be a good stimulus. I’m sure the whole thing has been an experience that has been difficult.
“He’s ended up, understandably, with an adverse reaction from some of the fans there. He’s had to deal with a lot of unintentional consequences of the possible move in the summer.

“Antonio coming in is probably a good thing from Harry’s personal point of view. Knowing Antonio as I do, an outstanding coach and a very good man, I’m sure he’ll get a response and a reaction out of Harry very quickly.”

Spurs bringing in Conte means they are serious about changing the club’s trajectory and hopefully his incoming can help bring some more structure to the side.
Conte’s formation likes to put an emphasis on his forward men, so he will likely want Kane to stay up high instead of dropping deep like he has been doing.
