‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms Ivan Perisic to Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have sealed the capture of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, with the Croat agreeing on a two-year deal with the North London club.

Perisic, who shone at left wing-back under Antonio Conte at Inter, has continued his impressive form under Simone Inzaghi this season, registering 10 goals and nine assists across all competitions in 2021/22 (Transfermarkt).

The 33-year-old’s contract at the San Siro runs out this summer and Gianluca Di Marzio previously reported that Spurs have agreed to offer the Inter star a two-year contract worth €6m (£5.1m) per year.

The Sun reported that Tottenham were in pole position to beat Chelsea to Perisic’s signing despite the Blues inviting the experienced wide-man to have a medical at Stamford Bridge.

Romano has now taken to social media to give his ‘here we go’ seal of approval to Perisic’s proposed move to Spurs, with the journalist revealing that the player could have a medical in London next week before finalising his move to N17.

Although Perisic is a short-term signing, it does signal that Spurs and Conte are keen on assembling a team that can challenge for big honours immediately.

The Croat is arguably the best left wing-back in world football and the fact that he is accustomed to Conte’s system means that he can hit the ground running in North London.
