‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano provides big update on Adama Traore situation

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Wolves winger Adama Traore is on the verge of joining Barcelona on loan despite heavy interest from Tottenham this month.

The Italian transfer guru states the deal for the Spain international will include an option to buy clause worth €30 million (£24.9m), while the entirety of his salary is set to be covered until June.

The news comes after the La Liga outfit emerged as a candidate to secure Traore’s signature alongside Tottenham, who had a £15 million bid for the winger turned down last week (The Telegraph).

Sky Sports reported that Barcelona’s entrance into negotiations came as a result of Traore being ‘unconvinced’ of Tottenham’s offer with the Daily Mail suggesting Antonio Conte intended to use him at right wing-back.

The decision means Spurs have yet to secure a signing this winter with next Monday’s deadline looming, despite Conte’s admittance that reinforcements will be needed heading into the rest of the season (The Athletic).

Spurs clearly weren’t convinced by Traore and vice versa, seeing as a deal had seemed on the cusp of being completed. If Spurs really wanted him then this would have been secured days, if not weeks ago. Now with little time remaining, Spurs need to move onto other targets.
