“Here we go” – Respected journalist claims Spurs have completed transfer deal

Respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have completed their first signing of the summer.

The Sky Sport Italia journalist has taken to Twitter to state that Spurs have completed a permanent deal for Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

Romano was following up his tweet from Tuesday where he claimed that a €17million fee had been agreed Southampton and personal terms agreed.

Hojbjerg was replaced as Saints captain by James Ward-Prowse in June after revealing his desire to move to a bigger club (BBC).

Three other clubs, including Premier League rivals Everton had previously offered a valuation in line with Southampton’s valuation with the Dane having his sights set on a move to North London (BBC).

Hojbjerg, who turned 25 yesterday, has scored five goals in 134 times for Saints since joining from Bundesliga outfit Schalke in 2016 (transfermarkt).

Jose Mourinho has been short of a defensive midfielder since Eric Dier decided to change position and operate as a central defender.
