Here’s how Mourinho’s managerial record compares to Pochettino’s

Mauricio Pochettino’s departure has understandably been met with disappointment by some Spurs fans, as the Argentine helped transform the club completely during his five and a half years at the helm.

In fact, Pochettino will likely be remembered as the best manager the club has had in recent history, and up there in the all-time rankings.

However, Jose Mourinho, who the club have chosen to replace the Argentine with, has been among the managerial elite for the past couple of decades.

Squawka Football compared the pair’s managerial record so far and it came as no surprise that the Mourinho’s was far more impressive than Pochettino’s.

The Portuguese’s win percentage in his 909 games as manager was almost a staggering twenty percentage points higher than the Argentine’s, while the new Spurs boss also boasts of sensational career tally of 25 trophies.

It is worth noting, however, that Mourinho has managed much more illustrious teams than Pochettino, with the latter’s only two previous stints before Spurs being at Espanyol and Southampton.

While the comparison isn’t entirely fair to Pochettino given the differences in the resources at their disposal, it is clear from that record that we are signing one of the most successful managers in football history. Only time will tell if the appointment indeed turns out to be an inspiring one or if things go downhill for Mourinho as they did at Manchester United.
