Some Spurs have been left frustrated after hearing the news that Chelsea have reached a deal to sign Ajax star Hakim Ziyech when the transfer window reopens in the summer (Chelsea official).
Ziyech has been one of Ajax’s standout performers over the past two campaigns, with his displays in the Champions League including an impressive display in the second leg of the semi-final against Spurs catching the eye.
The talented 26-year-old, who scored against Spurs in return leg in Amsterdam has also been linked with a move to the Lilywhites in the past (Calcio Mercato).
With Chelsea said to have secured the Moroccan international’s signature for £38 million (Goal.com), some Spurs fans can’t believe Daniel Levy didn’t move for the Ajax star.
While some insisted that Ziyech would have been perfect signing for Tottenham, one or two others doubted if he would be a good fit.
Here’s how fans reacted to the Blues’ transfer deal for the silky wide man:
Needless to say this one stings a bit. VDV advised Spurs to buy Ziyech and we really should have imo. Arguably wouldn't fit for us now ?♂️ but it'll still be galling to see him playing for that horrible football club. Bit of a bargain too. SMH. https://t.co/tuTtDt6ulf

After 5 years of telling everyone how good Ziyech is and how good he would be at Spurs, I now have to sit and watch him play for arch rivals Chelsea ?♂️To be fair, excellent signing for them. Watch him light up the PL. 38m is a bargain. He's top class. Fair play to them.

Chelsea going to get Ziyech for £38 million in summer, would be the perfect Eriksen replacement, asleep at the wheel as always…..#THFC

Ziyech going to chelsea ? makes me very sad cause he’s a top baller and I wanted spurs to get him, not a rival

The fact that so many big clubs looked at Ziyech and didn’t move for him (even with a supposed €30m release clause) speaks volumes for me.

He's class. Missed a trick here.

Spurs Web Opinion
While a move for Ziyech would have made sense last summer, I am not sure we need him at this moment particularly after managing to nab Bergwijn from PSV last month. We are fairly well stocked for attacking midfielders and wide players at the moment and so, I am not overly concerned about missing out on the Moroccan.
