“He’s fantastic” – Harry Winks can’t say enough about his fellow Spurs midfielder

Christian Eriksen’s future was subject to speculation all summer long with the Dane making no secret of his desire to seek a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

With Spurs bringing in the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, there were fears that Eriksen could be sold before the transfer market closed in Europe on September 2nd.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino himself was quite public on his concerns about losing some of his stars (Teamtalk).

However, to Tottenham’s relief, no deal ended up materialising before the deadline thus meaning that Eriksen will stay put at least until January.

Eriksen’s teammate Harry Winks is certainly delighted that the 27-year-old ended up staying given how well he has played for the Lilywhites over the last few years.

When asked if he was relieved that Eriksen didn’t leave, Winks told The Evening Standard, “Yes, of course. Christian’s a fantastic player, there’s no doubt about that.

“He’s been one of our most impressive performers over the last few years. Christian’s a top person and whatever he decides, that’s up to him.

“All we can say is how well he’s performed for us this season and how professional he is. He’s fantastic.”

If Eriksen does not sign a contract extension, then the club will have to let him go in January if they don’t wish to lose for free next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City have not come in for Eriksen despite him being made available for a relatively low price suggests that he is not quite world class. However, there is no doubt that he is a top player and he will continue to be a massive asset for the squad till he stays.
