Some Spurs fans on social media fear that Dele Alli’s time at the club is up after the midfielder failed to set the world alight against Royal Antwerp.
Dele was handed his first start by Jose Mourinho since Tottenham’s Europa League qualification match against Shkendija and he was one of four players withdrawn at half-time in Belgium after an extremely poor first-half display by the away side yesterday evening.
Mourinho did not hold back in his criticism after his side fell to their second defeat of the season. He said in his post-match press conference that the media should stop asking why he does not pick some players as they now had the answer (Football.London).
Some fans thought that the Tottenham boss’ words were very harsh since the 24-year-old was not the only one who was below par yesterday.
However, others insisted that the England international cannot keep getting opportunities if he continues producing poor displays.
While there was disagreement on whether Dele deserved to be criticised in public, the only thing fans seemed to agree on was that the midfielder has likely played his last game for the club.
Dele was very far from the worst on that pitch don’t understand why everyone is so focused on blaming him

Dele getting singled out all the time when the rest of the team was just as wank

Can we expect to see Dele play for Spurs again? Think Mourinho’s conference after the game suggests we might not. He hasn’t been the same player since that injury at Everton at the end of 2018 and then at Fulham a month later. Loved his confidence before those injuries.

Some clowns really think Jose has destroyed Dele’s confidence after his press conference ?
Almost as if it’s Jose’s fault Dele hasn’t turned up for 10 months now.
Modern football is too soft. Any ounce of criticism will supposedly ‘destroy’ players

Get the feeling that that’s the end of Dele at Spurs after last night ?

If Dele even makes the bench on Sunday it’ll be the biggest shock of 2020 and thats saying something?
Didn’t make them before last night.
I’m very confident we will never see Dele in a spurs shirt again.

How many chances do we think Jose will give Dele?
Everytime he starts him he looks dreadful. I think some need to face facts that he is finshed at this level.
He gives the ball away at an alarming rate. He can't run either.

Dele’s well on his way to becoming the Lingard of spurs…. hope he sorts himself out or he’ll be gone

Spurs Web Opinion
I can see why Mourinho was as harsh as he was after the game as he is trying to instil a mentality among the players of wanting to win every single game. He was clearly not happy with the players’ attitude and the lack of intensity, particularly in the first half.
However, it is harsh to single Dele out as I do not think he was anywhere near our worst player in the first 45 minutes. Unfortunately, with the January transfer window just two months away, I cannot see a way back for him.
