“He’s got to be careful” – Redknapp delivers warning to Spurs player

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has warned Dele Alli over his future in North London.

Dele has somewhat fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho, having only started just two of Tottenham’s eleven fixtures in all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

The midfielder was once again left out of the Spurs squad for Monday night’s 1-0 win against Burnley but was spotted boarding the plane to Antwerp yesterday afternoon ahead of this evening’s Europa League tie in Belgium.

Redknapp admitted that he is an admirer of the England international and is not enjoying witnessing his current situation whilst also urging the 24-year-old to focus on his football.

Dele was heavily linked with a £3million season long loan switch to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window only the switch to the French capital to fail to materialise (Daily Mail).

The former boss questioned what Dele could be up to away from the pitch whilst suggesting that his career could be at a crossroads.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m such a big fan of Alli. He’s a great talent, so it’s sad to see [what is happening],”.

“He’s got to be careful. He’s maybe a bit of a crossroads [in his career] at the moment. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

“Jose sees him every day and there’s obviously something he doesn’t like and that’s why he’s not picked him and dropped him out of the squad.

“Dele Alli needs to get back to the player we know he can be. He needs to get his head down and concentrate on his football.

“When he’s playing well, he’s a fantastic player.”
