‘He’s hungry’ – Pundit claims manager could leave club for Tottenham

Italian football pundit, Ciccio Graziani, believes that Antonio Conte might be tempted to take the Tottenham job if Inter Milan fail to meet his demands.

Conte, who has led Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in over a decade, is one of a whole host of managers to been linked with the vacancy at Spurs over the past few weeks.

Some reports have suggested that the former Chelsea boss has already been sounded out by Tottenham regarding taking over in North London.

However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold and Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge have cast doubt on Spurs’ chances of being able to land the Italian this summer.

The Inter boss has refused to commit his future to the Serie A giants, admitting that a decision will only be made after a meeting with the club’s hierarchy.

Graziani has now opined that he can see Conte jumping ship if he does not feel Inter are going to push the envelope to continue being competitive.

He told Calcio Mercato: “Sometimes the obsession can be penalising, but Conte did a great job above all in convincing the players of his ideas and that desire to win.

“This mentality is indispensable and in this sense, he did a great job: then the rest the players on the pitch did it, really good.

“Anything can happen: if the club do not regain financial stability and the possibility of planning a certain future, it’s clear that if Conte appeals to Tottenham with important goals, he can also think about going.

“He wants to understand if from now on there are the conditions to continue to be competitive: he’s hungry and it seems right that he checks it out.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham may well be stalling the appointment to see if Conte becomes available. The former Chelsea boss will likely use Spurs’ interest to put pressure on the Inter board to back him in the transfer window.

However, I doubt if he would be willing to jump ship to Spurs as it looks like it could take us years to be competitive again. He is unlikely to get too much money to spend at Tottenham to reshape the squad the way he wants to.
