‘He’s just a tank’ – Dele Alli describes which player impressed him in the gym

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has revealed which Tottenham player outperforms the others in the gym and unsurprisingly, he named departed midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama left Tottenham earlier this month to complete a move to Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact.

The Kenyan international enjoyed a fantastic first season at White Hart Lane after joining from Southampton in the summer of 2016 but a series of injuries stopped him progressing.

The 28-year-old hardly featured this campaign and it came as little surprise when Spurs agreed to let him leave the club.

Alli, while recording an interview with OTRO on the best core exercises for footballers, was asked who smashes it with the weights at Spurs.

The England midfielder named the former Southampton star straight away. He responded: “Some might be trying to get their beach body. Wanyama. He’s just a tank.

“I don’t know what he’s lifting. We don’t have a bench. We don’t do bench. But there are some free weights and Victor looks like he has been eating them.”

It is a shame that injuries prevented Wanyama from reaching the same heights that he did with his first season with us. If not for his fitness issues, I believe Wanyama could have been a mainstay in our midfield for years to come. Defensive midfield is one area we certainly need to prioritise in the summer.
