‘He’s not done it’ – Pundit suggests Spurs need to upgrade on one player this summer

Paul Robinson has claimed that Ange Postecoglou faces a big decision on whether to prioritise signing a number nine this summer.

Richarlison’s goals-per-game ratio has been excellent this season and the Brazilian has certainly shown that he is capable of leading the line for the Lilywhites.

However, the 27-year-old’s injury problems do not seem to be going away and it looks like Spurs face a big decision on his future this summer.

This is because a number of outlets have revealed over recent weeks that the former Everton man is of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs, who are thought to be willing to match the £60m fee that Tottenham paid to sign the player from Goodison Park two years ago (The Athletic).

Spurs continue to be linked with various centre-forwards across Europe, with the likes of Brentford’s Ivan Toney (GiveMeSport) and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy (HITC) thought to be on the club’s radar.

Do Tottenham need to upgrade on Richarlison?

Speaking about Tottenham’s summer plans, Robinson has now told Football Insider: “Whether they need a number nine or not [will be a decision to make]. They’ve got Richarlison but he’s not done it, he’s not got the figures.

“They’ve got wide players who can play as a nine. Son has done a great job there, he’s scored the goals this season and he’s carried the can, but he’s a much better player on the left-hand side.

“Do they need that replacement for Harry Kane? The squad does need strengthening this summer.”

Given Richarlison’s fitness record over the last few years, Spurs would surely be tempted to cash in on the Brazilian and use those funds to push ahead with a move for someone like Toney.

However, it remains to be seen if Saudi clubs would still be prepared to spend big on the Tottenham man despite his latest injury setbacks.
