‘He’s not going to do it at Tottenham’ – Man Utd legend claims player should leave North London

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has claimed that Harry Kane must leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer if he wants to win trophies.

Kane admitted in an interview with Sky Sports’ Jamie Redknapp on Instagram in March of last year that he could look to leave the North Londoners if the club do not progress in the right direction as he wants to win trophies sooner rather than later in his career.

The 28-year-old has scored a remarkable 215 appearances in 327 appearances for Tottenham but does not have a single competitive trophy to show for his efforts (transfermarkt).

The marksman revealed that he will decide his Tottenham future following this summer’s Euros (Sky Sports).

The Mirror have claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy values his star man at £150million, with the forward having three years left on his current contract.

Keane believes that Kane is not going to be able to win major honours at Tottenham while admitting that the outcome of the club’s hopes of finishing in the top four and the Carabao Cup final could be significant.

Keane told ITV (28/3/21) at 19:00: “If you are a top player you want to win the big trophies. There’s a big few months coming up for Tottenham – the League Cup final and can they get into the top four? That’s a huge question mark, will it influence him?

“He’s under contract and Tottenham will have a lot to say about it. But if you are in his shoes this summer, l think he has to move to win the big prizes. He’s not going to do it at Tottenham.”
