‘He’s one of the best’ – says former Spur

Former Tottenham striker Mido returned to Spurs this weekend to watch the 3-1 victory over Fulham at Wembley.

Mido spent one year on loan at Spurs from AS Roma and one year at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.

The Egyptian striker netted 19 times in his 61 appearances for the Lilywhites before moving north to Middlesborough.

Mido spent some time before the game on Sky Sports News where he commented on Tottenham’s lack of transfer activity:

“I know Pochettino has not been happy with the transfer policy, especially this transfer market, but I am glad he is not coming out and criticising the club,” Mido said.

“He is working with the players he has got, he is giving the squad the confidence to win games and the easiest thing for Pochettino to do would have been to go out and attack the board because he wanted more players in.”

“I am sure he wanted more players in like (Jose) Mourinho and Rafael Benitez, but Pochettino is so clever.

“If you see his interview on Thursday, he said ‘he didn’t want anyone at the club who is not happy’ because the key to Pochettino’s success so far, in my opinion, is creating the right environment for the squad.”

“I think Tottenham have one of the best managers in the world and they should do everything they can to keep Pochettino at the club for as long as they can.”
