‘He’s showing his qualities’ – Harry Winks hails this Spurs star for his recent displays

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has hailed Giovani Lo Celso after the Argentine has produced some fantastic displays in the past few games.

Lo Celso, who was signed in the summer on a loan deal with an option to buy, failed to make much of an impact at the beginning of the season under Mauricio Pochettino.

His opportunities continued to be few and far between initially under Jose Mourinho but the Spurs boss has handed him consistent starts over the past few weeks and the midfielder has repaid his faith by putting some terrific displays.

Lo Celso was arguably Tottenham’s best player on the pitch both in the win against Norwich on Wednesday as well as the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Southampton on Saturday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

After the game against the Saints, Mourinho implied that Spurs should take up the option to sign the midfielder permanently from Real Betis (Football.London).

Speaking about Lo Celso, Winks told the Evening Standard, “He’s a very good player. He’s showing his qualities now, he’s getting a run of games himself and he’s contributing with some really nice moments and obviously some goals and assists.

“He’s a top player which we knew anyway from seeing him in training.”

Lo Celso’s upturn in form has softened the blow of Eriksen’s imminent departure to Inter. Although Eriksen has been poor of late, his goal and assist return had to be replaced and in Lo Celso, it looks like we have found the right man to take over the team’s creative mantle from the Dane.
