Ahead of the Australian Open, Emma Raducanu admitted that she has enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to Harry Kane, adding that the Tottenham star is a ‘role model’.
Raducanu burst into the limelight with her historic US Open triumph back in 2021 and has subsequently had to deal with the pressure of increasing expectations ahead of every major tournament.
The tennis sensation admitted back in April of last year that she is developing an affinity for Tottenham as her whole team are Spurs fans (Daily Mirror).
Much like other Spurs fans, she has a special affinity for Son Heung-min, admitting in an interview with Tennis 365 last year that she ‘resonates’ with the South Korean.
The Athletic revealed a couple of months ago that Kane is helping Raducanu and that the pair have had ‘several conversations’ regarding dealing with the pressure of top-level sport.
The 20-year-old has now spoken about her conversations with the England captain, expressing her admiration for his humility.
She told The Guardian about the Spurs star: “Harry’s obviously such a great role model and very professional and I think to be able to speak to him is really cool.
“We haven’t spoken so much but he’s obviously an outstanding player, and it’s just pretty cool isn’t it? For someone of his achievements, it’s pretty remarkable how he’s so humble. I respect him a lot.
“It’s obviously really cool to speak to some other athletes. I think it’s good because we all kind of understand what each other are thinking and going through at times. And at the end of the day, they’re just really cool people as well.”

Despite the fact that opposition fans constantly banter Kane for his lack of silverware, the striker is a fantastic role model for any aspiring athlete to look up to.
The 29-year-old has not only made the most of his talent with hard work and determination but he is also singularly focused on his career and never bites back at any of the negative remarks thrown at him.
