‘He’s too good for our team’ – Team-mate praises Spurs-linked midfielder

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish who is said to be on the radar of more than one Premier League club has shown his class in the Premier League this season.

His Villa teammate Conor Hourihane has admitted that he has been blown away by the midfielder’s ability and insisted that he is up there with the best players in the division.

Grealish is a long-term target for Spurs, with The Sun claiming that the Lilywhites blew a chance to sign the midfielder for just £6million back in the summer of 2018.

The Daily Star revealed at the start of April that Tottenham were willing to pay more than £50 million to land the 24-year-old this summer but they were said to be facing competition from Manchester United and Everton for his signature.

However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has since suggested that Spurs have abandoned their chase for the Aston Villa star.

Hourihane has been left impressed by how Grealish has improved his game of the past three years and openly admitted that the midfielder is now too good for Villa.

Speaking to the Southern Star podcast (as relayed by The Sun): “He’s (Grealish) top, top class. In terms of pure ability and sheer skill and technique level he’s easily the best player I’ve played with to date.

“He’s just got that gift. He’s skipping by the best players in this league so easily. He’s developed over the three years I’ve been here – he’s taken his game to a new level – especially this year in the Premier League.

“He’s taken it by storm really. You know the England team and getting that big move is only a matter of time because, if I’m being brutally honest, he’s too good for our team at Aston Villa.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe we have already missed out on our golden chance of landing Grealish and there is no way we are going to pay the kind of money that would be required to sign him now. My gut feeling is that he is Manchester United bound as it is clear that they need a creative midfielder of his profile while a defensive midfielder is likely to be more of a priority for us.
