Heung-min Son admits Postecoglou has an ‘angry’ side to him at Spurs

Son Heung-min has admitted that he and his Tottenham teammates love playing under Ange Postecoglou but confessed that the Australian is not shy of having a go at the players if he sees something he does not like.

The mood around Tottenham is vastly different to what it was like 12 months ago, with there being a real feelgood factor surrounding Spurs at the moment.

Even when results were positive under Antonio Conte, it did appear from the player’s body language that they were afraid of making a mistake, with the Italian’s tactics very much reliant on being compact and making fewer errors than the opposition.

In stark contrast, the Tottenham players are playing with complete freedom under Postecoglou and Son admitted that they are now enjoying their football.

When asked about what life under the current regime is like, the forward told TNT Sports: “I have so much joy. We are playing different football. Everybody wants to play closer to goal if possible and that is what he wanted. We want to press as high as possible and bring good energy. I think everybody loves this and the fans love to watch. It is a joy to play.”

Postecoglou has an angry side at Spurs

However, Son revealed that Postecoglou is not just about being positive and encouraging the players to express themselves, confessing that the Tottenham boss also has an angry side to him.

He continued: “I do like him. I do love him actually. He is really, really angry sometimes. He will give a big shout when he is not happy and I like it, because it makes you realise what you have to do. He is very disciplined and demanding from everyone, which is very important for me.

“I have been working with him now for ten months and I am learning football parts, but also learning from him as a human being, which is very impressive.”

It has been well documented that Postecoglou does not like to get too close to the players and maintains a distance from them. That would certainly help maintain an aura around him and when he does choose to address the squad, his words would have a much greater impact on the players.
