Heung-min Son called up to South Korea squad despite NLD injury

Tottenham Hotspur star, Heung-min Son has been called up to the South Korea squad for their upcoming international fixture despite picking up an injury yesterday.

The fixture in question is a friendly against Japan to be held at the Yokohama Nissan Stadium on March 25.

However, just 20 minutes into the North London Derby against Arsenal yesterday, Son pulled up with a muscle injury after trying to make a sprint in behind.

The South Korean was quickly substituted for Erik Lamela and, although he managed to walk off the pitch and eventually took his place on the bench to watch the game, it didn’t look good for the Spurs man.

Some Tottenham fans may have been given hope of a very short lay off once they spotted that Son had been called up to the South Korea squad, but it may not be that simple.

The national manager, Paolo Bento, admitted that they would have to wait and see how bad the injury to Son was before seeing whether he could join the squad.
