Heung-min Son injury update ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Bodo/Glimt

Ange Postecoglou has provided fresh clarity on Heung-min Son’s injury progress, as Tottenham face a crunch week in their season up against Bodo/Glimt.

Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injuries already this season, with well over 10 first-team players being sidelined at one point.

That early-season injury crisis has since subsided, but in the last few weeks and days, a couple of Spurs players have had a few knocks.

Heung-min Son has been battling a foot injury, one that kept him away from the side against Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their semi-final tie.

Regardless, Son and Radu Dragusin were present against Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to support their teammates from the sidelines.

Lucas Bergvall also picked up a knock and was seen on crutches, and it has since been confirmed that Bergvall could be out for the remainder of the season.

Heung-min Son fitness update delivered by Ange Postecoglou

Of course, Bergvall’s injury is a huge blow as he has been a key part of the Tottenham midfield, but Ange Postecoglou has now provided a more positive update on the injury of the club captain, Heung-min Son.

The Australian manager has stated that Son is working hard and is back out on the grass. However, it remains to be seen if he will make it in time for Thursday.

He told football.london: “Sonny is still working hard, he’s out on the grass, and we’ll see if he’s available for Thursday.”

Spurs did secure an impressive 3-1 win against Glimt in the absence of their talisman, with Richarlison coming into the team and providing an assist.

Spurs need to weigh up Heung-min Son risk on artificial pitch

With the second leg against Glimt coming in Norway on Bodo’s artificial pitch, there are question marks as to whether Son would be risked in such conditions.

If the 32-year-old is to feature at all on Thursday, one would expect him to do so from the bench, as Postecoglou and his medical staff would try to ease Son into things.

A start could be on the cards for one of Mathys Tel or Wilson Odobert on Thursday, as Richarlison could also be a risk on an artificial surface, given his injury record.
