Heung-min Son names former Tottenham star he wants to play with again one day

Heung-min Son has revealed he wants nothing more than to play alongside one of his old Tottenham teammates again – even if it is just in a charity match.

When it comes to Premier League strike partnerships, very few have come close to what Harry Kane and Heung-min Son had at Tottenham Hotspur.

They tore through defences with ease, combining with an almost telepathic understanding that left opposition sides helpless.

In fact, no duo has ever linked up more than them in Premier League history, with Kane and Son combining for a record 47 goals—an achievement that still hasn’t been touched by any other pairing in the league.

But that chapter is now closed, at least for the time being. Kane swapped north London for Bavaria, leading the line for Bayern Munich, while Son stayed put and now captains Spurs as they continue their seemingly never-ending search for silverware.

Heung-min Son opens up on Harry Kane, the record and a potential reunion

There’s no denying Kane’s elite status as a forward, and his numbers speak for themselves. With 101 goal involvements in just 83 games for Bayern, the former Tottenham man has taken to life in Germany with ease.

This season alone, he’s bagged 33 goals and laid on 12 assists—a level no current Spurs player has even come close to matching.

So, when Son was asked by Sky Sports if he misses Kane and the partnership they once shared, the Spurs skipper didn’t hesitate.

He was open and honest, admitting he does miss him—not just for the goals, but for the way he brought others into play too.

When asked: “Do you miss him? Do you still speak to him?” Son said: “Yeah, I still speak to him. Obviously, I’m missing more than any time, I think. But for me, he’s the best striker.

“Because it’s not about scoring goals, you know—scoring goals is very important—but the way he invites the game, you know?

“Like involving the game, like inviting the winger playing with him, I think he makes the winger look better, you know. So I mean he’s a fantastic player. One day, even in a charity game, I hope we can play one game together.”

Heung-min Son has struggled post-Kane at Tottenham

It’s not just Son who misses Kane. Most Tottenham Hotspur fans still feel the void left by their record goalscorer, and it’s fair to say the team hasn’t quite looked the same without him.

Son, in particular, has struggled to replicate the form he showed alongside the Englishman. His performances this season have taken a noticeable dip, and while he’s still a threat, he’s not been as consistent or clinical.

As for his current strike partner, Dominic Solanke, the contrast couldn’t be clearer. While Son and Kane combined 47 times in the league, Son and Solanke are yet to combine for a single goal, despite spending plenty of time on the pitch together.

If Spurs have any hope of ending their trophy drought this season, that’s a stat that absolutely has to change.
