Heung-min Son provides fitness update after he went down in pain for South Korea

After limping off the pitch in South Korea’s latest international fixture, Heung-min Son has reassured fans of both club and country that he is ‘fine’ and that he only suffered a ‘small injury’ in the game.

Heung-min Son has become even more important to Tottenham this season, as not only the club captain but also the main source of goals since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich.

With eight goals to his name already this campaign (Transfermarkt), it’s safe to assume Son is back to his best after a difficult season last time around.

Going into the international break, Spurs were left reeling due to injuries to James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, who are both set to be out until the New Year.

Is Heung-min Son injured?

The last thing Spurs need now, is for their star man to be on the injury table, too. So, understandably, fans’ hearts were in their mouth when they saw Son on the ground during South Korea’s emphatic win over Singapore.

Son scored the third goal in a 5-0 win for his country, but spent some time on the floor before limping off the field. He did return, however, and completed the full 90 minutes.

After the game, Son told South Korean journalist Sungmo Lee (via Football.London): “I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down for a long time [on the pitch].

“At that moment [I went down] I couldn’t feel anything on my foot. It’s not only me, all players have small injuries but still play for the team.

“We are making a team for the World Cup, I can’t give up a game just because I feel pain. If I can’t run any more, then I can’t do anything about it but when I can run, I have to give 100 per cent for the team.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Son is the kind of player who will keep going even if he is injured, as we saw last season, and I really don’t want him to be doing that again this year. If he is hurt, he needs to rest.
