Some might feel that Son Heung-min has been a bit off the boil this season but the Tottenham man is actually sitting at the top of the Premier League for a key attacking stat this year.

Son’s rusty start to the season
Over the last few years, Son has tended to start the season a little slowly before coming into his own a few months into the campaign as he gains some match sharpness.
That has also been the case this time out, with the Tottenham captain looking a little rusty and failing to put away the chances that he usually gobbles up.
However, such is the class of the 32-year-old that he has still managed two goals and two assists in the first five Premier League games.

Tottenham’s creator in chief?
While Son might have been disappointed with the chances he missed against Brentford, the Spurs star was a threat all game due to his movement and his passing.
He picked up two assists in that game but could have had more if his fellow forwards had been more clinical.
The stats certainly suggest that Son has been a prolific chance creator this season, with WhoScored revealing that he has created 13 chances from open play this season, which is more than any other player across the Premier League.
Is Son’s creativity underrated?
While Son has a reputation for being an outstanding finisher, the forward perhaps does not get the credit he deserves for the goals he sets up for his teammates.
With his two assists against the Bees, the Tottenham forward now has 63 assists for the Lilywhites, passing Christian Eriksen’s tally of 62, with only Darren Anderton having more assists for the club (67) in Premier League history (Sqawka).
James Maddison remarked after the 3-1 win that the Spurs captain is extremely unselfish, always tending to pass the ball if someone is in a better position to score (SPOTV – 22/9/24).
