Highly-rated Spurs academy forward pens contract extension until 2025

Tottenham have confirmed that academy starlet Yago Santiago has now signed a two-year contract extension.

Santiago first came to prominence when he netted 15 goals for Celta Vigo’s Under-16s during the 2018-19 season, with Tottenham snapping up the youngster at the end of that campaign.

Although the 20-year-old is most comfortable playing as a second striker, he has been used in a deeper role as a number eight, as well as out wide.

Santiago has progressed impressively since moving to Hotspur Way nearly four years ago, having now established himself as a key player for Tottenham’s Under-21s.

The forward has scored six goals and provided two assists in 22 appearances in Premier League 2 this season as well as netting a goal in four UEFA Youth League matches (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham have now managed to tie down the promising attacker until 2025.

This news comes just a couple of days after Spurs announced that academy right-back, Maxwell McKnight, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Tottenham have lost quite a few talented young players from their academy over recent years, with several players leaving in search of regular first-team football.

So, it is good to see the club being proactive in tying down the best young talent.
