Hoddle: “Pay star his market worth”

Glenn Hoddle believes there is no better striker than Harry Kane right now and has urged Spurs to make sure he is paid his market worth.

Kane, who has 15 goals in his last ten games for club and country, has always expressed his happiness at the club and appears in no hurry to leave.

However there have been repeated stories linking Real Madrid with a move and Hoddle says the Spurs hierarchy must not take their star man for granted and will have to match his ambition to keep him long-term.

Hoddle, who was speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, said: “If they want to go on and win the Premier League and Champions League, they have got to keep the best players and you can’t tell me there is a better striker than Harry at the moment.

The legendary Spurs hero continued: “There is no one in better form than Harry Kane and the kid is such a good lad. I have met, I’ve worked with him. He just wants to learn. He is no problem to the manager.

“He has got absolutely everything. Left foot goals, right foot goals, inside the box. Why wouldn’t you pay him top dollar?
“It can only go on for a few more years of ‘oh, I love Tottenham, this is my club’. In the end his agent and himself and are going to go ‘hold on, you have to match my ambition and desire to win things’.”
