‘Honestly’ – Antonio Conte makes positive claim about his Spurs squad

Antonio Conte has claimed the current crop of players at Tottenham is one of the best he has worked with in his managerial career after seeing his side sneak a late 3-2 win over Manchester City.

A late Harry Kane header deep into second half stoppage-time was enough to earn Spurs three points at the Premier League leaders, who thought they’d equalised via a Riyad Mahrez penalty.

The result means Tottenham have brought an end to a three-game losing run in the division and has kept them firmly in the fight for a Champions League place.

It also comes after a tough stretch last week which saw Spurs suffer defeats at home to Southampton and Wolves, with Conte questioning the work ethic and mentality of some of his players (The Athletic).

But the Italian erased any of those thoughts following one of the games of the season and has now made a bold, and very positive statement about the group at his disposal.

Conte told Sky Sports: “Honestly this is one of the best group of players I’ve worked with in my career.

“We have a lot of space for improvement. We have mainly young players to improve and make experience.

“Also in this game against Man City, we have a lot of work today but we’re not scared to work.”

Tottenham worked hard to snatch a result and although they rode their luck at some points, it is a stunning win. All the players worked hard to get something from the game and they showed their tenacity to keep going when the points seemed to have been dropped.
