Honours for Tottenham duo Heung-min Son and Yang Min-hyeok at the 2024 KFA Awards

Heung-min Son has been named the Korea Football Association (KFA) Player of the Year, while Tottenham loanee Yang Min-hyeok picked up the Male Young Player of the Year award.

Heung-min Son’s 2024-25 campaign has been far from perfect, with the Spurs forward struggling for consistency at times.

Even so, he has still managed to contribute 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions, proving his importance to Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Despite Tottenham’s inconsistent form this season, Son has continued to rack up individual accolades, recently netting his 127th Premier League goal.

That milestone put Son level with Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on the Premier League goal scorer chart.

There’s also still a chance for him to deliver silverware to north London, a feat that would only cement his place as a true Spurs great.

Tottenham’s Heung-min Son wins record eighth Korean Player of the Year award

Heung-min Son has once again etched his name into the history books, winning the KFA Player of the Year award for the eighth time.

The Spurs skipper previously claimed the honour in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, and remains the most decorated player in the award’s history since its inception in 2010.

The 32-year-old’s international performances were key to his latest triumph. In 2024, Son found the net 10 times for South Korea and led the team as captain throughout a crucial period.

He has also featured in all six third-round 2026 World Cup qualifiers under head coach Hong Myung-bo, scoring three times to help Korea top Group B.

Yang Min-hyeok wins Korea’s Young Player of the Year award

It was a big night for another Tottenham talent, as Yang Min-hyeok was crowned Male Young Player of the Year.

The 18-year-old forward made a name for himself in the K League 1 last season, scoring 12 goals before sealing a move to Spurs.

Currently on loan at QPR, the youngster has been making steady progress in the Championship. Yang bagged his first goal in European football on 30 March against Stoke City, marking a key milestone in his development.

On the international stage, Yang made his senior debut for South Korea during their World Cup qualifier against Jordan on 25 March—another step forward in what could be a very promising career.
