‘Hope you enjoyed that’ – Trippier sends a message to Spurs fans after Arsenal’s defeat

Kieran Trippier has taken to social media to send a message to Tottenham fans after Newcastle United did the Lilywhites a massive favour by turning over Arsenal 2-0 last night.

Tottenham’s Champions League qualification hopes were reliant on the Magpies getting a result against the Gunners at St James’ Park on Monday night.

Before the game, Trippier admitted that he wanted to help his former side by getting a result against Arsenal (The Shields Gazette).

Harry Kane also remarked after Tottenham’s win over Burnley that he would send the former Spurs right-back a text ahead of their showdown against Mikel Arteta’s men (BBC Sport).

Tripper, who returned from his injury layoff against Manchester City last week, was an unused substitute yesterday as Newcastle turned over Arsenal 2-0, with Ben White scoring into his own net and Bruno Guimaraes sealing the result with a late strike.

The Magpies’ win leaves Spurs needing just a point at Carrow Road to seal Champions League qualification, given their vastly superior goal difference.

After Newcastle’s win, Trippier took to Instagram to write: “Excellent by the lads tonight, once again showing what we are capable of @nufc. I hope you enjoyed that one tonight @spursofficial fans.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Trips is evidently still Tottenham through and through, and I know I speak for all Spurs fans when I wish him nothing but the best at Newcastle. It is a shame that the 31-year-old was not fit to travel to Spurs last month but he will get a great reception at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
