Some Spurs fans on social media have blasted Fulham’s director of football operations Tony Khan for his comments regarding Ryan Sessegnon when asked about the club’s rumoured interest in signing the youngster on loan.
Tottenham paid £25million to sign Sessegnon from Fulham last summer after the Cottagers failed to beat the drop.
The youngster has not had the impact that he would have hoped for in his first season at Spurs, failing to get a single minute under his belt since the restart of the Premier League season.
The Telegraph claimed that Scott Parker was interested in taking Sessegnon back to Craven Cottage on loan next season after they saw off Brentford in the play-off final to book their ticket back to the top flight.
However, when Khan was asked about Sessegnon, he insisted that the club will not be re-signing the 20-year-old since he did not do enough to keep Fulham up last time (Evening Standard).
Some Spurs fans criticised Khan for seemingly pinning Fulham’s relegation on the Spurs star and insisted that it was a case of sour grapes the American businessman.
Here’s how some fans reacted to Khan’s comments:
I hope they get relegated – what a complete and utter lack of class talking about a young player who stayed at Fulham out of an obviously misplaced sense of loyalty when he first had the chance to leave.

I think that phrase may come back to bite him when looking for any further loan deals!!!!!

Do we really want to send him to a Fulham side that is going to continue to wreck his confidence when they go down again? Much rather send him somewhere that can actually develop players like Ajax

Let’s all wave at them when they get relegated again next season ??♂️

Clearly very bitter over the dealings last summer. Rediculous comments regarding loans. Harrison Read (a Southampton player) was one of their best players last season and a major part of their brilliant form from the restart. ??♂️

It is obviously not fair to blame a side’s relegation on a teenager when Fulham had experienced stars like Aleksandar Mitrovic, Andre Schurrle, and Jean Michael Seri in their squad.
Even if Fulham do not want to take Sessegnon, I believe a Premier League loan can do his development a world of good as I cannot see him getting games for us beyond the early stages of the Europa League next season.
