How much did Tottenham get for the sale of young Marcus Edwards?

Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate, Marcus Edwards, put an end to his 14-year long Spurs career yesterday as he secured a transfer away from his boyhood club.

The tricky winger signed for Portuguese side, Vitoria SC, on a permanent deal, a move that may see him come up against Arsenal in the Europa League group stages.

This seems to be an unfortunate and anti-climactic end to Edwards’ Tottenham career, as he was once thought of as the crown jewel of the academy system.

However, after sub-par loan spells at Norwich and Excelsior, Edwards was clearly no longer catching the eye of Mauricio Pochettino.

The likes of Troy Parrott, Jack Roles, George Marsh, Harvey White, and more were likely about Edwards in the pecking order after positive pre-seasons.

It also now appears that Spurs did not even get a good price for the youngster, as Transfer Markt claim that Edwards, in fact, left Tottenham on a free transfer.
