Tottenham Hotspur are expected to continue their spending spree this summer, with the Lilywhites having huge leeway under the current financial rules.
At the end of last season, many senior Tottenham officials, including CEO Vinai Venkatesham, promised Spurs fans that the club would change how they operate in the transfer window.
Those promises were understandably met with scepticism by the fan base, given that the club’s owners have not shown much willingness to spend big in their two-and-a-half decades of ownership.
However, the Spurs owners are now putting their money where their mouth is, with the Lilywhites breaking their transfer record twice this week, with the club having already made six new signings at the start of July.

Tottenham owners are determined to remain a ‘big six’ club
BBC Sport have now claimed that the Spurs owners are determined to turn the tide after two successive 17th-place finishes and show that they remain a ‘big six’ club.
The Lewis family and the Tottenham hierarchy are prepared to invest more in their first-team squad this summer than they ever have before.
It is revealed that the deals for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have taken the club’s transfer outlay this summer to £237m, beating their previous record outlay across a single season, which was £235.8m in the 2023-24 campaign.
What is even more exciting for Spurs fans is that the club are not done just yet, with a lot more to come this summer, with the owners having a desire to make more ‘statement signings’.
Spurs can spend another £250m this summer
BBC Sport say that the spending rules, Tottenham’s high revenue and the cash injection from the owners have freed up more money to be spent on wages.
In fact, it is asserted that there is a potential for a further £250m to be spent this window by Spurs without breaching the financial rules.
The Lewis family have authorised ‘a full reset’ this summer, and Tottenham want to do their business ‘early and decisively’.
