How much Tottenham would now need to pay to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed what kind of offer Tottenham would need to make to stand a chance of signing their long-term target, Antoine Semenyo.

At the start of the summer window, it was widely reported that Semenyo was a target for Tottenham, but the winger ended up signing a new five-year contract with Bournemouth in July.

The 25-year-old has made an outstanding start to the campaign and is one of the most in-form players across the Premier League, with six goals and three assists in seven league outings this term.

Some sources have explored the possibility of Tottenham going back in for Semenyo, but it has now emerged that the Lilywhites will have to shatter their transfer record to sign the Cherries star.

How much would Tottenham have to spend to land Antoine Semenyo?

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that Spurs’ interest in the 25-year-old has not gone away, but he has warned that it would be a very difficult deal to do.

He claimed that Thomas Frank’s men may have to spend £80m to prise the winger away from the Vitality Stadium. That fee is £15m more than Tottenham’s current record signing, Dominic Solanke.

When asked about Tottenham’s chances of landing Semenyo, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “It’ll be a difficult deal to do for a number of reasons. It’ll be difficult to do due to Bournemouth not looking to lose Semenyo.

“The price tag that will be on his head, it’ll be probably around 70 to 80 million pounds plus, I think, for somebody like him. Also, it’ll be difficult to do because of the huge rival interest in Semenyo…it won’t just be Tottenham who are interested in him.”

Is a January Semeyo deal on the cards for Spurs?

While Tottenham may be keen on bolstering their attack when the transfer window reopens in less than three months, they can forget about signing the Bournemouth man this season.

According to a recent update from TBR Football, Andoni Iraola’s men will not consider selling Semenyo in January under any circumstances after having lost a couple of key men in the summer.

The outlet also revealed that Spurs will face competition from Man City, Man United and Aston Villa for the winger if he becomes available, while Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on the Bournemouth star’s situation.
